Life Drawing at D.U. 4.27.13

Image
Roughly in order from longest to shortest poses.  (Or reverse chronological order, you could say.)  Aja was the model.  This is my second session sketching her , and she's very good.  She has this neat '40s/'50s look with the bandanna and bouffant hairstyle that Linda likes as well.

Some Moleskine goodness

This oughta tide them over for a while, he thought.

Trading Portraits

Image
After posting a few of my self-portraits on my Facebook page , the amazing sketcher and online friend France " Wagonized " Belleville-Van Stone asked if she could give my likeness a try.   Wow . Undaunted, I foolishly asked if I could return the favor.  And, being the hedger-of-bets that I am, I sketched her twice in the hope I would get enough right in each sketch that they might possibly match the quality of France's effort, at least when remembered together. Unfinished business

Image
It may seem hard to believe, but I don't share everything I draw or sketch.  In fact, I have tons of unposted and/or unscanned material.  Sketching takes time, and that's something I often run out of.  So making lots of sketches equals making lots of unfinished sketches. Here's a few unfinished sketches, most of which I haven't shared before.  You'll notice in the Moleskine sketches that the left sides are done but the right aren't.  In my other sketchbooks I often use pencil beforehand, so the sketch can develop a bit more organically, but Linda pointed out to me that I work from left to right pretty much without exception in Moleskines. Self Portraits

Image
We have mostly stationary mirrors in the house, except for a tall skinny one that I have to drag out of the bathroom for self-portrait sketches like this: So I finally went and bought a $5 small mirror at Target and did this self-portrait last night while Linda watched "Cold Case Files."

Wash Perk Fisheye

I dropped by Wash Perk today to drop off a print of my previous sketch for the owner (who saw it on Facebook and loved it, I'm happy to say), and stuck around to do another sketch.  Good day.

Living Rooms past and present

Image
Whenever it snows and the streets ice over, my sketching options narrow a bit.  I have a set on Flickr that contains no fewer than 85 sketches done inside my home or others'. Here's a couple of recent living room sketches, and some past classics. 2013, Denver, Colorado: 2009-2010, San Antonio, TX: 2007-2009, Bozeman, MT:
